Venison Hot Dog Chili Recipes

Venison Hot Dog Chili

As you have seen by now, I keep things pretty simple and easy. I personally don’t have time to spend hours cooking and I know most people don’t either. Here are my top three venison hot dog chili recipes.

All of these chili recipes are very easy to make. They only take between 15-30 minutes of cooking time and serve at least a dozen hot dogs. We’ll start with our number 1 chili recipe.

I always include nutrition facts, but since this post has three different recipes I’ll let you calculate the nutrition facts for yourself if needed. I like to use www.myfitnesspal.com. I have tried many, many different online options and myfitnesspal.com is the most accurate that I’ve found and the easiest to use and no, this is not a paid advertisement for myfitnesspal.com — I just really like the app. You can use it online too. Just enter the ingredients, amount served, and they will calculate everything for you. Easy peasy!

I will, however, tell you how to make these recipes more diet friendly. In all three recipes, the sodium, sugar, and cholesterol might be too high for some of you on special diets. In order to lower the sodium use low sodium ingredients, such as salsa, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce and use a salt alternative.

To help lower the sugar content use low sugar or sugar-free sauces. You can make healthier sauces than what you’ll find in the grocery store. To lower the cholesterol, use ground venison burger that has less fat added to it. Most people add 20% fat to their ground burger and that’s what I calculate all of the recipes on this site with, but since this is not going to be a meatloaf or cheeseburger you really don’t need the extra fat added to the ground burger.

Now, moving on to our second best hot dog chili recipe and my personal favorite… It tastes so good that I can eat it plain. It’s good with crackers or tortilla chips, too. The smell is amazing and will make your mouth water.

Salsa Deer Hot Dog Chili

Ingredients and directions:

  • 1 lb of venison, ground
  • 10 oz. of chunky salsa
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. of chili powder or 1 pack of chili seasoning

In a large frying pan, add the ground deer burger and let it fry until it’s done. Break up the meat as it fries and stir often so you don’t have big clumps of meat. Then add the salsa and chili seasoning and mix well. Simmer for 8 minutes. It’s done!

When I don’t have ground deer burger I like to make this recipe with ground turkey or beef, but deer burger is the best. Now, on to the third best hot dog chili recipe…

Easy Hot Dog Chili

Ingredients and directions::

  • 1 lb venison, ground
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 3/4 cup of ketchup
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. of chili powder or 1 pack of chili seasoning

In a large frying pan, add the ground deer burger and water and mix it well. Break up the meat as it fries and stir often so you don’t have big clumps of meat. Then add ketchup and chili seasoning and mix well. Simmer for 8 minutes and it’s done. You can’t get any simpler than that.
